About Me

So who are you and how long have you been producing? I’ve been producing for over 10 years now, and currently use an Akai MPC as well as FL Studio. I sample from old records to create Hip Hop beats, and only stick to the boom-bap. I play drums, keyboard, guitar, and Latin percussion as well. My favorite types of music are Jazz, Funk, Afro-beat, Soul, Salsa, Bossa-Nova, Reggae, DnB & Rock. I’m a 28 year old Puerto Rican/Malagasy man and speak/understand Spanish and French as well… I have a complicated upbringing as my parents aren’t originally from the USA (my sisters were born and raised in France too). I like to bodyboard/surf/swim and have a fascination with seeing the biggest ocean wave ever witnessed by man. I also have a deep admiration and respect for martial arts of all form, but most importantly for the philosophy it teaches.  I am basically a simple dude at heart who can be both humble and aggressive at times.  I also run a FL Studio Tutorials site, where to the best of my knowledge I help new producers learn the program, and offer free tools and sound samples as well. To visit my FL Tutorials site go to: http://rcamileshigh.110mb.com

I wanna use one of your beats, or collab on a track/full album. If you’re interested in using one of my beats, or getting some beats from me, then e-mail me at: mileshigh211@gmail.com

What you should include in the e-mail:

  1. A link to your music online (youtube, myspace, soundclick etc.), or attach your songs in the e-mail.
  2. The general idea/concept of the song(s) you’re looking to make.
  3. The equipment or studio’s equipment/software you use to record vocals (Pro-tools, Audition, Cubase etc.)

I currently only work with MCs who know what real Hip Hop is. Since everybody says that, let me elaborate. If your motivation is creating music for purpose instead of money/fame then it’s Hip Hop. If you understand the terms Boom Bap, Golden Era, and it reflects in your writtens/freestyles then I’m looking forward to working with you. If you listen to 90′s Hip Hop, and say to yourself “WTF happened to this kind of Hip Hop, and why is it not on the radio today!?”, then you’re gonna love my beats. I’m NOT looking for high ego candy rappers, who rap over pop beats, and pass it off as “gangsta”. I’m also NOT looking for off-beat rappers, or rappers who combine random intellectual words to create nonsense phrases, and pass it off as “underground”. If you come off from the heart before the mind, then we’ll work good together. I usually don’t charge for my beats, and all I ask is that I receive proper credit for my work, and a copy of the final song in mp3 format. Let’s make some music… mileshigh211@gmail.com

So what’s up with all this DnB stuff you’re making?
Since I was a kid I’ve been playing drums, and have always had a strong attraction towards how they sound in music. Drum&Bass sparked from Hip Hop in the 90′s, so it’s not exactly something new to me, although I was never into it as much as Hip Hop of the 90′s. Since I don’t like how Hip Hop sounds today I’m looking for a way to continue expressing myself while still making it into a style that I’m familiar with. I’ve always had respect for the technical side to DnB, and while I can’t dig the spacey stuff, I can relate to a genre called “Intelligent DnB”. Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to say I’m a genius or something (it’s just what the genre is called) it’s just this style has smooth Jazzy/lounge or theme based sound that I can dig. My style will be a mix of the two, Jazzy and theme based, with both dark and uplifting accents. I’m aiming for a Yin/Yang effect. I hope you dig it too : )

Peace to all from ya boi in Oceanside, Ca
